Jagnandan Singh was born in Ludhiana, Punjab, India in 1929 and educated at Ambala City Khalsa School, Gujjarwal Government High School, Government College Ludhiana and Punjab University.

He played hockey for Sikh Union Nairobi, Kenya Police and the Civil Service. He was a member of Kenya Police Team that won the M R D'Souza Gold Cup in Kenya in 1960.

He was Kenya's Vice Captain at Rome 1960 Olympic Games.

He died on 9 February 2016, in Harrow, London. He was aged 87.
