Manjeet Singh Panesar was born in Nairobi, Kenya. His grandparents had emigrated to Kenya in 1925 from Punjab, India.

He studied at City Primary School, Nairobi; Technical High School, Nairobi; Highway Secondary School, Nairobi and Kenya Polytechnic

He played for Goan Institute Nairobi 1977 - 1978; Sikh Union Nairobi 1978 - 1998

He played in the All Africa junior championships 1981 in Nairobi and the 1983 Championships in Egypt.

He was the captain at 1982 Kuala Lumpur Junior World Cup.

He represented Kenya at the Los Angeles 1984 Olympic Games. His elder brother, Jitender was also in the Kenyan team at these Games.

He resides in the UK.
