Harvinderpal Singh Sibia was born on 18 May 1953 in Nairobi, Kenya. His parents had immigrated to Kenya from Punjab.

He studied at Khalsa Boys & Girls Primary School and at Highway Secondary School in Nairobi, Kenya.

He played for Sikh Union Nairobi, one of the leading Clubs in East Africa and toured India with the Club in 1971.

That same year he was selected for Kenya's squad for the East and Central African Championships in Lusaka.

He was awarded his first international cap at the age of 18 years and 8 months on 23 January 1972 when he played against Netherlands in Nairobi.

He was selected for Kenya's team at Munich 1972 Olympic Games.

He emigrated to the UK in 1973 and studied at South Bank College in London

He played for St Albans and Maidenhead before moving to Hounslow Hockey Club, London.

He represented Middlesex in the County Championships and also played for London Indians.

He was coach at Staines; Harrow; Ashford and west Hampstead Hockey Clubs He also coached South of England Divisional Team and Middlesex Under 19 County Team.

He resides in the UK.
